Beware of the Dog
Born in Sydney and raised on the South coast of N.S.W. Jordan, While still in primary school fell in love with the sound of Aussie rock legends ACDC and Rose Tattoo. After getting a basic understanding of the guitar Jordan took up bass guitar enrolling in professional tutoring for the next few years. Jordans first foray into the music biz was playing bass in several garage bands. After playing bass for a few years Jordan switched back to the electric guitar forming a thrash metal band called Xyster. Soon after Jasper Stone was born and commenced gigging all over Sydney and N.S.W. Jasper Stone was gathering a solid support base with fans, management and local radio when Jordan was approached by Sydney rock legends the Candy Harlots who were on the hunt for a stand out front man to complete there line up. Jordan began rocking with the Harlots in 94 and spent the next couple years gigging all over N.S.W. as well as trips to Victoria and South Australia. During this period Jordan learnt all about playing in a professional hard rock band having the benefit of full time management, road crew and of course the experience of fellow band members. During this period the Harlots did many successful headline shows as well as touring extensively with the Radiators. The Harlots also opened for Alice Cooper on his promo tour and recorded and released a self-titled EP. In early 96 the Harlots parted ways after some bickering with record companies and publishers and Jordan disappeared off the musical landscape. After writing some solid new material and feeling the fire in his soul once again Jordan set about putting together the ultimate hard rock band. Jordan states. I had the name Beware of the Dog in my head for a few years and just needed the right musicians to put it together. As my best mate, Scott Eaton was a more than solid bass player I began by teaming up with him to write and rehearse for the new band. The search was now on for a suitable lead guitarist and drummer landing them local hotshots Iann Munn and Matt Oakes respectively. Jordan continues Once we had the line up complete we headed strait into the studio to record the debut songs. I knew we had a strong line up and good material so I was confident and hopeful of setting the hard rock scene on fire. It didnt take long for people to sit up and take notice and almost strait away the Dogs were playing to ever growing and enthusiastic crowds. We got asked to play at the Flat Earth festival in Deniliquin alongside bands such as 28 Days, Sunk Loto and Knokturnl. It was awesome! I mean, I think it was like our 17th show or something and we got there and rocked our arses, you could just tell by the reaction of the young crowd, they loved it and I knew then we were definitely onto something. However not all was smooth sailing. Drummer Matt soon had a musical disagreement with band members and walked out. There was a lot of bickering at that time between myself and Ian and I think it all got too much for Matt. I dont blame him for leaving I felt like leaving myself at that time, and Matt was too good a drummer to waste time with a band that wanted to fight rather than play. The search was now on for a suitable replacement leading them to the services of hard hitter Jason Cansdell. Jordan continues. Jasons great, the minute we got him in the band I knew we had the right guy. Hes a great guy a slamming player, I mean I can honestly say I dont know of anyone who hits em harder or sweeter than he does. Jays also a real humble guy and always wants to learn and improve his playing so hes a real asset to the band. After getting the line up settled and rocking once again. Trouble struck when guitarist Ian had to quite the band and move to far away Dubbo to pursue his teaching career. Not long after getting Jay up to speed Ian had to leave to do his thing. Jordan states. We never really got along all that well but I had a lot of respect for his all round musicianship. The guy had tons of feel and also assisted me with the song writing, coming up with the main riff to songs like Lies for a liar, No confidence, Can u tell me, Mr Neat and Survival of the fittest. I knew hed be a loss but as they say the show must go on. Luckily a roadie friend of mine who happened to be a big fan of the band was available and waiting for such an opportunity so thats how Emelio [Emo] Rubio came to join the band. By now the boys had enough new material to head back to the studio to record there 2nd EP. Again the Dogs headed down to powerhouse studios and with the help of renowned engineer Greg Stace recorded there Survival Ep also shooting a video clip for the song Mr Neat. Jordan states. For the Survival EP the main aim was to take our production to the next level. I dont think the songs were any stronger than the 1st EP but we wanted to have them sound that much bigger and for the most part I think we accomplished that. The guys then continued there live onslaught playing to bigger and more enthusiastic crowds until in true rock form Guitarist Emo and bassist Scott had a fight in the bar after one of the gigs,Born in Sydney and raised on the South coast of N.S.W. While still in primary school Jordan fell in love with the sound of Aussie rock legends ACDC and Rose Tattoo. Soon after he first heard Iron Maidens Number of the beast album and was blown away by the speed, power, and complexity of there music. In the early 80s Jordan got hold of Megadeths Killing is my business and Metallicas Ride the lightening albums and was completely awestruck by the sheer power and energy of both bands. Around this time Jordan first picked up a guitar and with the benefit of being surrounded by lots of great musician friends and associates was able to learn many tricks of the trade. As Xyster didnt have a vocalist these duties fell to Jordan by default. In the early 90s Jordan was asked to join his first real band after being approached by renowned Psychotic turnbuckles drummer Russell Souter who saw Jordans combination of solid guitar playing and wild vocal ability as a real asset. That was weird. Jordan comments. I didnt think it was that big a deal and the band was really starting to hit form at that time but Emo wanted out and out he went. I still really like the bloke but Ill never understand his decision. I know he loved the band and really believed in what we were doing so to walk out like that was quite amazing. The Dogs quickly recruited the services of Ex Candy harlots, Angry Anderson band axe master Pete Massi and got strait back to gigging, landing the official Megadeth and Mudvayne after partys as well as landing support for Rose Tattoo on there return dates. The boys have been playing all over N.S.W and recently returned from a successful tour of Adelaide. The Dogs are preparing for a return to the studio to record there debut album. I think the bands in a very strong position right now. Jordan states. Weve built a solid following during the past couple years and the songs weve got now I have no doubt are the best weve ever written. I can assure all the loyal patient B.O.T.D fans out there that this album will make it all worth the wait. We could of gone into the studio some time ago but we want to make sure that this is the most precise, hard hitting, slamming rock album ever. Im really looking forward to people hearing our new stuff as Im certain its going to be killer! So as B.O.T.D prepare to unleash there arsenal of new songs stand by for more great hard rock/metal from Jordan Scott Jason and Pete Aka Beware of the Dog. resulting in the boys being banned from the venue and Emo quitting the band.
