Modern Day Outlaw
The tale of our journey in retrospect is not one that we ever envisioned. Modern Day Outlaw was originally formed in 2007 by three lifelong friends with similar music interests (Ron Brown, Sergio Cesario, and Travis Geary). Back then this was just a way for us to play music, have fun, and get out of our houses every once in a while. None of us ever really wanted to play covers so we began writing original music. For several years this was our occasional retreat from the toils of everyday life, with no intention of moving beyond the rehearsal studio walls. Wanting to expand beyond the music we had written we decided to bring aboard Tommy Monger on guitar and Sean Bachelor on Bass. Sean and Tommy in the mix, we started to expand our talents and the desire to record and play live shows began to grow. Moving forward to 2010 we collectively made a decision to embark on our first recording. The 4-song demo was released in 2011 and quickly gained notoriety throughout the underground scene. In September 2011 Sean Bachelor amicably parted ways allowing Kevin Duran to step in and bring his melodic/aggressive skills to the table. With some new guns and ammunition in the chamber, it was time for us to take to the stage. October 15th 2011 marked the day we first stepped on the stage as a complete unit. Since that day the shows have gotten better and the crowds have grown larger, and larger. We began to quickly make a name for ourselves throughout South Florida for our energetic/aggressive style. Not long after countless live shows and enthusiastic fans began to emerge we suffered our biggest drawback. Drummer and founding member Travis Geary made the decision to hang up the sticks and gracefully bow out. This was a huge setback for us, Travis was there from the beginning and he was a lifelong friend to us. We accepted the loss, decided to move on and the search for a new drummer began. As if by the grace of God, our answered appeared in the form of Kirk Sarmento. Kirk was a crucial addition, having years of experience and a solid Southern style the lineup was complete. Obviously new members, live performances, can only lead to one thing: a new album. The search then began for a good studio and a solid producer. So naturally we turned to longtime friend Gus Rios(Malevolent Creation), and Riversound Studios to record the newest effort. With a more serious approach to the market and the masses, a decision had to be made. Keep our old band name, or change it to something that resembled more of what we really were. Southern Metal Outlaws that live life, and write kick ass music. An extensive search for a new name was started, having looked through hundreds of potential names we found the name that suited us best. And with that “Modern Day Outlaw” was created. Metal/Country/Blues blended together for a sonic melodic revelry to appease the senses. Drawing from all our influences, we take all aspects of rock and metal into accountability. Songs vary from slow southern groves, relentless aggression, catchy hooks, and melodic harmonies our Outlaw image was born. The music speaks for itself, created from what Rock N Roll should be, Modern Day Outlaw is ready to take on the world!
