From MARCEL's view...He was pursuing a dream, a new project to record. In hopes to tour with an original band, he was seeking something that had an edge to it with melodic and good dynamic rhythms. As fate would have it, he had somehow gotten in touch with an old band member named JOHN IRWIN Who was also craving the same dream. He grew up listening to people like PAUL STANLEY and FREDDY MERCURY. JOHN happened to be jamming out some originals with a friend who has moved on from the band. They asked MARCEL a few times to come out, but their schedules were very busy and were not coinciding with one another. Until one weekend they finally got together in a basement. They started jamming out some covers to start off with, then tried to play some originals, waiting for MARCEL to jump in. Luckily for MARCEL, he had a lot of experience in different styles in the 15 years he has been performing. His influences were the likes of TERRY BOZZIO, MARK ZONDER, MIKE PORTOY etc. They finally found the bassist whom they've been searching for for quite some time. This is someone John brought in from work who he had just met. His name was STEVE HEASLIP who " After about a year, they've been seriously rehearsing. When the band began, other members devised names but nobody could envision the same title. That is, until one day, when Marcel heard a name floating around in the clubs that he played at. He mentioned the acronym T.H.C. but nobody had a clue what it meant. Then, a few months down the road, John said, "I was talking to my bros about someone trying to take control." Then, He said, "That's it.TO HAVE CONTROL...What do you think of 'To Have Control'?" Everyone that heard the name loved it, so it was written in stone ... And That is how the band T.H.C. (TO HAVE CONTROL) was born in the fall of 2002. Just when they finally gained Tom, who started playing guitar at the age of 14, he decided to pursue other avenues. But while with the band, he had resurected past influences such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.
