guestbook comments contact	It all started when MARCEL DUBE was looking for a new project to record and tour with an original band. He was looking for something that had an edge to it, melodic and good rhythms. He had gotten in touch with an old band member named JOHN IRWIN who grew up listening to people like PAUL STANLEY and FREDDY MERCURY. JOHN happened to be jamming out some originals with a friend who is no longer in the band. They asked MARCEL a few times to come out but their schedules were very busy and were not coinciding with one another. Until one weekend they finally got together in a basement. They started jamming out some covers to start off with then tried to play some originals waiting for MARCEL to jump in. Luckily for MARCEL DUBE he had a lot of experience in different styles in the 15 years he has been performing. His influences were the likes of TERRY BOZZIO,MARK ZONDER,MIKE PORTOY etc. and bassist whom they've been searching for quite a while and John brought in MARTIN FILLION who is a guitar player but an excellent bass player as well. He brought in his style of CLIFF BURTON and other rock influences making him fit right in. After about a year theyve been seriously rehearsing they thought of names but nobody could agree on them. Till one day Marcel heard a name floating around in the clubs he played then he mentioned the acronym T.H.C. but nobody had a clue what it meant till a month down the road and John said:"I was talking to my bros about someone trying to take control.He said:"That's it.TO HAVE CONTROL" What do you think of To Have Control? Everyone that heard the name loved it, so it was written in stone and that is how the band T.H.C. (TO HAVE CONTROL) was born in the fall of 2002.They finally found a member which JOHN randomly found his name is Tom who started playing guitar at the age of 14. He is heavily influenced by bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC. Tom is a melodic player emphasizing the importance of having a balanced technical/feely touch to the guitar. His favourite guitar is his modified Fender Stratocaster with a Hotrail in the neck and a Coolrail in the bridge. In their spare time they all like to play pool, watch movies and the Simpsons for a good laugh.

T: What happened to you everything ok had me worried.Thought you made it flat on your back and fell off the face of the earth M:Me too, but I've managed to get by day by day. It's the only thing I can do. Yeah it's great to think about tomorrow, but you have to think of it as part of your life that you've taken out and put it away day by day. Like as if you were in a messy room, and removing each thing cleaning it up. The next thing you know it's clear of all the debris that we were so overwhelmed about. Some takes more time than others but that's life. You have to look @ it as one door gets shut another get broken open. Well depends on the situation, Well you have to do something to stay alive but it can't be the expenses of others as long as the damage isn't undone. You have to try make things right when you can, sometimes you have to be nice. Although we have or other half that just wants to break free. THC: Yes and you have to not give in cause then it all comes back on you? M: Yes I know I'm trying my best to do what I can so I can help others like when I was struggling. I try to do things right but sometimes they are wrong. I have to accept what is in my life and try to deal with it as best as I can. THC:Hey!! All though I had gas poisoning from when I was coming back from a gig somehow got it on my food and ingest it. I thought I was going to die. Especially when the needle from the doc didn't work then I was laid up for 2 days then did my first original paying gig with JOHN IRWIN with SWEET IVY. THC:Who's that. M:That's another story. DREAMING REALITY RING! RING!! THC: Hello? Hey MARCEL! How are you? M: Couldn't be better things are finally rocking and rolling! T: How so? M: Well I just recently competed in a contest last year, for a lovely lady who has a heart of gold & her name is MISS CRIS. She was having one last contest this year and asked me if I was going to compete again. I said that I didn't know , I would have to see if THC was willing to come out. They were a little hesitant @ first cause we didn't feel that we were ready. I showed her the video with TOM @ our second rehearsal. She was like:"WOW! You guys are amazing! It would be an asset for you to be in the competition." A few others happened to be behind us and agreed. That was coming from my litte video camera with a crappy speaker. I immediately told the guys this, they were stoked as much as I was. I knew that I had to come up every weekend for us to make it to the very end. Problem was I was so far away and there was no place to stay. TOM told me that he would ask his folks who have been putting up with me and my antics. I really appreciate all the support, I don't think we could have made it as far as we have in the last month for I'm pleased to announce that THC has made it to the finals. WOOHOO!!! M:My thoughts exactly,but there's more we've recently hooked up with a friend of mine from when I tried my hand to promote a JAZZ & BLUES FESTIVAL. Her name is KAREN C. and she is working extremely hard for us to get us organized and on the road to rock with a band who I can't mention yet until it's written in stone. She is a very positive figure for us, We tip our hats off to her, she is doing a great job. T:Looks like the big picture just became life sized eh! M:I sure hope so this time, can't afford anymore weak links and loss of time. We've worked too hard to make this happen, I want so much for everyone who were there for us from the beginning especially my mom. She has been so supportive and through so much with me playing 8hrs a day for a year before I went on the road to play the NORTHERN CIRCUIT BRRRrrrr It's so freaking cold up there. I almost went through the final stage of hypothermia and almost froze to death in -75 degree weather. T:Whoa! That's deadly dude. What happened? Hi I normally don't do this so early but I'm pleased to announce that we have a new lead guitar player for THC. I heard he's already picked up 10 songs within the last week. He's versitile and likes IRON MAIDEN, which JOHN & MARCEL were always wanting to play again. Lets talk to MARCEL see how things are going. MARCEL:"Yeah! WOOHOO!! (rambling @ mock 20) THC:Slow down dude, you sound excited. What's going on? M: I have so much to tell. First of TOM FOURNIER PARK as the new lead guitar player and an asset to THC. He's picked up 5 covers & 5 originals with solos. I'm happier than a pig in shit.He's very modest and what we are looking for in a band to progress. T:How did you find him? M:Funny you should ask. J found him randomly on you tube somehow. Don't ask.lol! He just went to his computer went to you tube and found him. I believe it cause J was talking to me the other day and I told him that I received an E-MAIL from someone he doesn't even know and he just said the full name right off the top of his head. Just like I found him when he was with SWEET IVY. He came by one night on gig that I was filling in for, he thought I was with that band and left. I didn't get a # or anything. So I just decided to go the music store and picked out the first add looking for a drummer called it and asked if he or CHRIS was there. It blew the mind of the girlfriend on the phone. With TOM he recently bought a SQUIRE gtr that is the same type and colour as in my very first band who I toured parts of CANADA on and off for 6yrs. I think this is our fate. I've recently hooked up with a band called LONG SHOT we will be doing a show together with THC openning @ an arena close to home with a minimum seating capacity close to 400.There's a link and it is in memory of a guy named BEAR who you'll see more about in the link below. A LESSON 2 LEARN THC: Hi there fans around the world, Marcel called me up with a FRANTIC voice, he was scarred shitless. I asked him what he was so scarred about. He said:"I found the death card in my tarot cards." I was like OMFG! What will this guy run into next. So I did little bit of digging then found that the death card only means that what was in his life before is now dead, starting over a new beginning. I checked in a little further to my surprise it was a new beginning cause I'm pleased to announce that THC is on the rise and is moving fast up the charts and has placed @ #4 as of SEPT 29th /07 out of 3000 bands +. I called him up to give him the good news and he had news of his own. Here's how it went. RING! RING! MARCEL:Hello? Hey THC! Guess what we found another gtr plyr, we are trying him out today, we possibly have management backing us up. He's a guy I was working in a JAZZ band with. He's looking for new blood and he enjoys my playing so he will try to do his best @ getting us out in the open so we can drop everything that is making us miserable then hopefully tour the world, well of whats left of it. T:That's GREAT!! Does this mean you will be ready to rock again in the venues? M: Yeah I hope so, I've been through a plethora of bands and I've seen so much and have quite a few let downs so I'm not holding my breath on anything anymore. I will believe it when I see it. T: Stop being so pessimistic. M: It's just a harsh reality that has set in my mind through my life. I've had so many chances to be a famous rocker but there is always something called MURPHY'S LAW. I would like to take a hand grenade full of nitroglycerin and stick it up it's ass so far watching it blow up into a billion pieces as many of us want to see it happen. Cause we can't handle too many disappointments T: Yeah I've had times like that, don't fret bros. things will come your way as your mother predicted with other things with other people. M: Yeah I've been optimistic lately just trying to get through life with a positive outlook. The only thing I can worry about is what is happening now and not worry so much about the future, cause when you worry you become frail and weak. The important things pass you by, missing opportunities of a life time. I've learned that from experience, but sometimes it's good to think about the future cause it can bite you in the ass. Just look @ my friend who had it all. He toured the states with many famous musicians. He was making 6$Gs a week. He was too worried about keeping up with the headliners that he could have had retired in a profitable manner. Now he's struggling and I've been helping him get back on his feet again. He's almost there, he has me to thank and wants to help THC in anyway possible to live the dream he once lived before it shattered in front of his very eyes. He's been the greatest friend that anyone could have, teaching me the ropes on what and what not to do in this corrupt industry that we all want as an artist. T: WHOA! That's heavy man, looks like you met him for reason. He's telling you what could happen if you don't manage your $ wisely. So take heed in his advice. BIG T*****S DISSAPEAR MOTORCYCLE SHE'S EASY BLOWN AWAY 1/2/1/10 NOSTRADAMUS MARCEL's DETERMINATION FOR THC In the beginning there was a story a boy of the name of MARCEL DUBE whose family were musicians in a band together.They bought him a red striped drum and he pounded that thing to WIPE OUT by the SURFARIES. Then was bought a drums set & gtr, which he then destroyed both together as he saw KISS on tv doing that as well for entertainment for the audience.Things didn't last long with his parents and he only listened for he was confused on what he was supposed to do. He tried the greatest task but failed making him want the drum set again,but couldn't afford it. He tried getting a job, but the people who were giving his mother $ wanted him to pay and as no more $ was given so he couldn't progress, his mother told him it was best to not to support the family for it was her duty the best she could.Time passed and passed etc. then @ the age of 13, fate struck. He was struck with not going to B.C. with his father, but with a boy who shot a staple in his eye. causing him to bump into things,missing great moments in meeting people, girls causing him grief till the day he dies. He met an 18yr old who had a system listenning to IRON MAIDEN,DOKKEN,BLACK SABATH etc. it was so loud and clear that it made MARCEL realize that he had a passion for drums again. Then being told to not do anything for the summer he began to air drum and he played to all songs on the radio of Q-107. As time passed his mother asked him what he wanted to do with his $ that he received from the courts as they won for the staple incident. To his suprise he bought a vehicle so he could put his brand new FIRE RED TAMA SWINGSTAR set in it. He played for 6 months went from to play in the bars making $ & was supposed to be on a MADD movie but that was the beginning of things to fall through for him. Then joined a real band for 6 yrs toured all over ONTARIO. He moved to where he had to lay his head. Then it was from band to band then it stopped he was on his last leg was about to jump off our realm and further into the unknown. Thought of writing a suicide note which then showed him the true pieces of what is going on his life then turning it into a poem for he couldn't go through with it. Somehow his guardian angel was stronger than him and gave him that extra push he needed as bad as things got. Marcel played in many groupes for he would ask to play on stage in HOTEL that he lived in then one night he was asked to play for STONEHAVEN who had a tv show that played across CANADA,but before it could get to S.H.& SWEETIVY the show was cancelled due to royalty that they had signed a contract in understanding the stipulations of it. He met JOHN who needed M.D. to complete the band SWEET IVY who had found his suicide note & looked @ it & added his parts with the rest of the melody which appeared on Q-107 FM but wasn't good enough for the entire sound was gated. This made it sound like AM radio on FM dial and it wasn't strong enough for anybody to give them their recognition that they were looking for. They had a chance to play before THE GANDHARVAS but they were on before S.I. which they missed out performing in front of 300 people. JOHN IRWIN & M Deventually parted ways and they did they did great things. M D was seen @ the jam & was asked to tour schools of LONDON & NIAGARA FALLS. He was very consistent for he listend to lot of dominant drummers and was taught a secret which is an illusion of it's kind. He went from having many opportunities to go to playing the CNE in front of 5,000+ then a thunder storm rained on his parade, JAPAN 2 times, touring CANADA & LONDON ENGLAND. All this didn't discourage him, he fought and climbed in almost dissmay as he scraped his knees beyond the bone for he's been to the peak many times & as he gets closer look on the inside for just that brief moment, he is then kicked in the teeth over and over for it seems that others don't want him to succeed. Little do they know the more he fell the more his mother encouraged him to push on further this was something that not too many kids have as M D realized which made him like a rock as he got stronger & everything inside him just wanted more and more as many opportunities passed him by. As fate would have it he found JOHN again which was in a band that had no name & we all know today as TO HAVE CONTROL, who has been on THE EDGE FM 102.1 which somehow gave the station dead air for 15 sec. that cost them big time as the DJ announce that the listeners wouldn't be listening to THC again. Marcel did other projects to support the band to get stronger, he moved EAST but not too far away, to record with other bands netwerking trying to gain connections to fullfill THC's dream of recording a full THC CD. He was on 25 radio stations, with a famous MANAGER with another band hoping to break that window of opportunity. He wanted it so much that if he was salivating into a tub it would be full right now. M D belived in THC's music so he put up a profile on hardaxe which gave them the recognition he so long fought for and they deserved. THC was getting opportunities passing them by, but it was because of a weak link, which they couldn't see until they met MARTIN FILLION who had joined them to play. They eventually all parted from THC and reformed it making them stronger as they removed the weakest link who was great musically, but something was not clicking so they had to move on from him. Now they are still turning heads some stiff ones @ that for they can't ignore what is writen in stone which gives them the drive of soon becoming famous, rocking out hopefully @ a venue near you. Yet we are still looking for that great big deal in the sky that seems to vanish before our very eyes as we try to reach out and take it. What gives? Well it doesn't matter anywayl, where there's a will there's a way cause we are not stopping anyway. We will plow through like a freight train which is like skidding of the track and out of control in the frozen rain. We have a misssion we have a goal to conquer and defeat the demons and obstructions and all. If you are wondering who this is it's not THC but it's M.D. who is trying to take the wheel as best as he can be. Who wants to fullfill the dream till the very end. I've been through thick I've been through thin, but this is a task that I'm sure to fight so we can win. I've found a tool and trying to use it @ my discretion, hopefully won't piss anybody off cause of my double meanings that brings some to repression. It's my obsession to take it to the extreme but I seem to fall behind loosing the dream. I have many plans to get around this labyrinth as we call life, one day I will try get rid of every struggling kid & musician's strife. I don't know why this has to be so hard but it's for all us who's dreams & lives that have been broken into shards. We need your input into making this a reality so we can move on from this sacrificial travisty. I never thought I would be doing what I'm doing now cause I was so green, as I look back some can be pretty mean. I don't let it bother me anymore cause I'm a good strong soul and I will claw my way out of this deep and dark hole. So you can choose to take this as advice you might find it drole. If an offer is on the table to get a deal or open for a band that you may not like. They can be your ticket out of limbo as long as you put your pride asside. Cause let's face it there are some good people out there still who tries to help struggling bands but get a slap in the face cause they don't have the cans. Cans which I mean by that is that they are not that well liked and they don't have the balls with clank as some musicians have. THC must be happy to record with the $ that MARCEL saved up to record new Cd. We have MARCEL here to see what the band has been up to. Glad to have you back, how's things going with THC? MD: Well it's back to square one once again. It seems we are always ending up a 3 piece. I've think it supposed to be just the 3 of us for some strange reason or another. We had a guy then he played a show and never came back. It's weird and we had him in the band for 3 months, he didn't even want to play the original material. I asked him why. He said that he had already done that. I guess he must have gotten a bad taste in his mouth on the inside. Still though what gives? Well I've been playing in clubs & making recordings with about 4 other bands (CLASSIC ROCK, PROGRESSIVE, JAZZ and my friend BRENT) this year just to so I could record in the studio with THC. Yet again as fate would have it, no band to record. So I took the $ and went back to school @ HUMBER COLLEGE. T:You went back to school a 3rd time, what is this place? M:It's a music school. GUITARWORKSHOPPLUS was there with session players. There were all kinds of walks of life from around the world from ages to 10-60. It was a blast I have video of it and I will try to put some of it on YOUTUBE (Before the fall,if I can figure it out) with some of the performances just Search the words:GUITARWORKSHOP+). I'm glad that I've gone cause I needed my second wind for I was getting a little frustrated, but that isn't going to stop from pursuing my goal for this band. T:Whoa!!! You have allot of drive & determination too bad it is back down to the tooth and nail again, well you will find your guy! M:Just the question when, I'm not giving up I've fallen so many times now it's just like second nature to get back up on my feet again.Lol!! T:So now what? MD:Well just work 40 hours/week,make art, write music & poetry (poetry.com, search: MARCEL DUBE),draw art,teach drums,play music in clubs to gain $ again to pursue THC's dream. M:I am addicted to the songs and the guys I work with are good people who deserve a chance,some people expect everything to handed down on a silver platter and not work for it. How? I don't know but I know there are some days that I get extremely exhausted and need to take a break or I just might have a nervousbreakdown. So my TUESDAYS are usually my time off, well after work. (CHUCKLES) The funny thing is I can't stop for one minute and I always finding myself doing something productive with my musical life. I'm THC and I have fantastic news the band has finally found the missing member ever since the day they fired the old gtr plyr to hire him back and to be fired again after a 1yr 1/2 of searching.How did this happen with the new guy & is he working out? Marcel:"Yeah! It's great, We found him through our bass plyr MARTY .He's versitile and he can shred and make his bitch of a guitar scream. We've only had 3 rehearsals and he has 20 songs already with us. It's a miracle, that we found him. Wish we could have found him when we were asked to open for HONEYMOON SUITE. in front of 15,000 in OSHAWA @ the new GM arena. He's making our originals sound better than before. You know it doesn't sound so dated anymore cause he actually listens to different styles of music as we do. M:I'm hoping to have a full CD recorded by the middle of summer,then we can get this ball rolling cause it has been a long time coming.
